2. Hunger Games IRL at the Olympics

During the men's marathon on Sunday, Ethiopian long-distance runner Feyisa Lilesa pulled a Hunger Games moment and showed his support for the Oromo Protests in his home country by making a specific motion with his arms:

Showing the sign is highly political though, so when he spoke a press conference after the marathon he said what he risked with the gesture, "If I go back to Ethiopia maybe they will kill me," he said, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

"If I am not killed maybe they will put me in prison. [If ] they [do] not put me in prison they will block me at airport. I have got a decision. Maybe I move to another country."

Like the Hunger Games, let's hope the people can rise above this oppression.

@ShannonPurser7

Not too long ago, we had that whole Anna Kendrick as Squirrel Girl news bit making the rounds; and that was exciting! Really though...

But, what do you guys think about Purser as a potential alternative? Since Purser's post went live she's been contacted by a few Marvel executives to see if she wants to come by their headquarters. She's definitely shown herself to be talented in the hit Netflix Original Series 'Stranger Things', so I don't know. Thoughts?

Today, Marvel gives us our first look at the one-of-a-kind, larger-than-life Captain America statue that they made in partnership with Comicave Studios, which goes on display at the Marvel Booth at Comic-Con International: San Diego 2016, July 20th.

After Comic Con, the statue sets forth for Steve Rogers' hometown of Brooklyn, New York where it will stay in Prospect Park for a couple weeks.

Yes, Marvel's baddest villain's getting his own comic series folks. Writer Jeff Lemire, and artist Mike Deodato are set to chronicle Thanos' ongoing exploits in a new series that's launching as part of Marvel NOW.

It looks as if we'll be following Thanos for the long haul, as he attempts to regain his throne as Marvel's most feared 'n vile villain.

As for Thanos' mission in the new comic series, here's what writer Jeff Lemire had to say:

The loathing runs very deep here, guys. Just last week, Marvel released this year’s Spider-Gwen Annual, an 'alternate-reality series' that portrays a black female Captain America as a hero. The villain's known by everyone as the Mental Organism Designed as America’s King, or more crisply, “M.O.D.A.A.K.”

M.O.D.A.A.K. wails incessantly about 'foreign filth' and how he wants to squeeze 'n crush America in his allmighty powerful hands...

Readers have already been quick to note the glaring similarities between the comic's villain and Donald Trump himself:

Judging by Latour's Twitter feed, which touts a marked dedication to a hatred targeted at Trump, you've gotta think the talented Marvel artist really was inspired enough out of a passionate hatred to create a villain that exists solely to make fun of Trump.

The statue will be inscribed with the words ‘I’m just a kid from Brooklyn’, a line of dialogue from ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’.

To commemorate the 75th anniversary of Captain America, Marvel just announced plans to unveil an enormous bronze statue of Captain America at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Cheers, Cap'n.
