A London man ended up in big trouble after posting several awful Tweets about Muslims following the Brussels Attacks. His initial Tweet, where he describes "confronting" a Muslim woman was met with an appropriate amount of derision from other users who turned his phrase into a meme.

He clarified the incident with "The Telegraph" with an alternate version of events:

What everyone’s got wrong about this is I didn’t confront the woman,” he said. “I just said: ‘Excuse me, can I ask what you thought about the incident in Brussels?'”

“She was white, and British, wearing a hijab – and she told me it was nothing to do with her.

“I said ‘thank you for explaining that’ – and her little boy said goodbye to me as we went out separate ways.”

Despite this alternate version of events, his Twitter stream has devolved into alternately spouting hateful things aimed at Muslims and retweeting stories about his "confrontation" Tweet.

But the story doesn't end there, he was arrested later for his hateful posts. The Telegraph gives details from a police spokesperson on the situation:

"A 46-year-old man was this evening arrested at his home in Croydon on suspicion of inciting racial hatred on social media. He has been taken to a south London police station and enquiries continue."

Twitter user @kalssseyharmon shared her lonely cookout with her Grandfather, lovingly dubbed "Pawpaw" on Twitter. The internet was suddenly reminded to call their own grandparents so, instead they Tweeted about how sad this Pawpaw situation made them. After all, no one should have to cook 12 burgers just to have one person show up.

Washington D.C. surprised everyone by declaring an unprecedented total shutdown of Metro services for at least 24 hours. This is for everyone's safety, it's an emergency evaluation of some dangerous electrical problems. That still leaves everyone with plenty of extra time to use gifs and memes to comment on the traffic as they make their way to work by car, bus or foot instead. Even some Twitter accounts for city services are getting in on the "fun".

This post, believe it or not, already has 5,600 likes on Twitter after being up for only a few hours. This lone sock, is a trending post. We have a few thoughts about this:

1. Why do so many people care that Tom Hanks found this one lost sock?
2. Why did he bother putting a ©2016 Tom Hanks watermark on a picture of a sock?
3. THIS IS NOT EVEN THE FIRST TIME HE'S DONE THIS!!?!

Just doing a quick survey of Tom Hank's Twitter feed, it's about 60% posts of lost clothing items that used to be part of a pair. Does anyone ever claim the items he takes pictures of? And seriously, WHOSE SOCK IS THIS?

Actually, in this case, someone did respond to claim the sock.

Neil DeGrasse Tyson made a lot of people (and presumably ducks, cats and bedbugs) angry with a much less than true fact about sex and evolution.  His claim, that sex doesn't hurt any species had many Twitter users jumping to correct him.

And you might be thinking, he's just trying to be positive about human sexuality and say, in his own pseudoscientific way that it's healthy and painless for humans. But... that's actually not true either:

Sure, he's a scientist but cut him some slack, he's not that kind of scientist. He studied astrophysics, how's he supposed to check his facts at all before Tweeting about biology?

History can be a tough subject but don't worry, Twitter's got you covered. You'll never forget these important moments in history now that they've been told in memes.

john legend donald trump twitter John Legend Explained to Donald Trump's Son Why People Were Protesting His Dad's Rally

Donald Trump's political rally in Chicago got shut down because of people protesting him. His son, Donald Trump Jr. responded with a claim that the protestors didn't know why they were even protesting.  John Legend had a pretty simple answer for him.

Another Twitter user, notably with the name "RedKneckHillBilly", claimed John Legend said that because he just had no education and in this case, he might be right...

Because both Trumps went to the University of Pennsylvania, just like John Legend, and look where that got them.
