Japan's Ogaki Kyoritsu Bank is planning to roll out a new line of ATMs that will authenticate customers' identities using biometric scanning. Customers will be able to withdraw cash by letting the machine scan a palm print and then entering a birthdate and PIN -- no card required.
On top of being convenient, the machines are also a necessary response to the large number of ATM cards and personal IDs lost in last year's devastating earthquake.
Biometric identification will become available at 10 Ogaki Kyoritsu branches this September.
