A recent press release from the Journal of the American Chemical Society announced the publication of a paper suggesting that "advanced versions of T. rex and other dinosaurs - monstrous creatures with the intelligence and cunning of humans - may be the life forms that evolved on other planets in the universe."

Some of the news organizations reporting on the paper -- which basically just says that there's a possibility that DNA-based lifeforms exist on other planets -- left out a key quote by the author, Ronald Breslow, who says, "Of course, showing that it could have happened this way is not the same as showing that it did."

The result: some of the most epic headlines of all time.

It's probably safe to cross "hyper-intelligent dinosaurs from space" off the list of things that keep you awake at night (unless you're Michael Bay, in which case you should turn it into a movie).
