Dutch documentary The Making of the Empire Strikes Back never saw a commercial release but contains a fascinating and rare glimpse behind the scenes of the beloved film. Fifteen years ago, Trekkies delved into the Star Trek universe by profiling the sci-fi series' rabid fans. Now, Captain Kirk himself is revisiting the concept with his own documentary. William Shatner's Get A Life goes "where no man who wears normals clothes has gone before," and attempts to find a deeper meaning behind the nearly 50-year-old franchise. The documentary premieres, appropriately, at Comic-Con on July 14th.

Space Shuttle Booster Footage of the Day

This footage from the upcoming special edition Blu-ray version of NASA's documentary Ascent: Commemorating the Space Shuttle was captured by the cameras on a shuttle's Solid Booster Rocket as it blasted off, separated from the orbiter and splashed back down to Earth.

The video is notable for being the first-ever HD booster cam footage, and the audio has been mixed and enhanced by Skywalker Sound.

Ascent's special edition isn't available yet, but this extra made its way to the Internet thanks to former Space Shuttle Program staff member Michael Interbartolo, who posted it on Google+ earlier today.
