It's no big secret that Joss Whedon is a fan of Ridley Scott's Alien universe -- especially considering that he wrote Alien: Resurrection -- but Joss's Alien fandom also takes subtler forms. This easter egg from the pilot episode of Firefly, for example.

The logo at the top of the HUD interface for an anti-aircraft cannon that Mal fires during the famous Battle of Serenity Valley bears a striking resemblance to the insignia certain prominent corporation from the Alien series.

Fans have noted that the titular ship in Prometheus looks quite a bit like Serenity. Would it be too much to hope that the design is the result of mutual fan-love among sci-fi creators, rather than just a coincidence?

Google has placed some pretty excellent easter eggs on its homepage in the past -- "do a barrel roll," anyone? -- but their latest search trick might be their best yet.

Searching "zerg rush" (kekekeke!) on the Google homepage will turn the Google logo into a bunch of rampaging "zerg" -- represented by the letter O -- that you're supposed to click on and destroy before they devour your search results.

There's even a high score function, which lets you post your results to Google+.

What are the odds that some professional StarCraft 2 player will be streaming video of his best scores by the end of the day?

The Amazing Spider-Man is getting an amazing easter egg: Donald Glover.

The multi-talented Community star and rapper told MTV that although he didn't get the role of Spider-Man, director Marc Webb managed to sneak him into the movie in a more subtle way -- on some fanboy merch in Peter Parker's bedroom.

Glover joked that, "He has all the 30 Rock DVDs, and he has my name circled on all of them. It's like a Cape Fear thing where he's doing pushups and stuff and it's kind of like he's out for me."

Although the actual easter egg probably doesn't go that far, it seems likely that Spidey will own a Childish Gambino CD or a Community DVD set.

Prometheus writer Damon Lindelof hinted at WonderCon that there were more easter eggs to uncover in the viral campaign for Ridley Scott's upcoming film, and now the fans have found another one: a wallpaper-size, high-res image of the Prometheus that was hidden at the Project Prometheus website. (Embiggen.)

Intrepid Prometheus fanatics discovered that the secret url for the image was prometheusproject.com/eridu, and the password was "tell abu shahrain," Eridu being an ancient Sumerian city in what is now called Tell Abu Shahrain, Iraq.

The password to a second secret Project Prometheus page, projectprometheus.com/245409, remains a mystery for now.
