Apparently, CW's Arrow isn't quite as bad as everyone feared. You can watch the pilot and decide for yourself. Maybe someday he'll grow a proper beard.
But that's old news. Tonight's top Arrow story is our first look at Torchwood and Doctor Who's John Barrowman in a yet-unnamed role, and DC favorite Deathstroke (played by Jeffrey Robinson).
The CW's Arrow might be playing fast and loose with Oliver Queen, but at the very least, it looks like he has a mask.
A painted mask, but still. Very least.
It seems like Arrow is too nerdy to be mainstream, but made too mainstream to appeal to the nerdy. What do you think? Will Arrow hit the mark this fall?

More importantly, the trailer reveals a bit more about what Arrow is up against, whether it's the wealthy and depraved of Starling City or a gunman in a black and red mask (Deathstroke? Black Mask? I guess we'll find out!)

Billionaire playboy Oliver Queen returns to Starling City with a vengeance in the first real trailer for the CW's Green Arrow TV series, Arrow, following yesterday's brief training montage.
This is still the CW, sure, but we're not in Smallville anymore. It looks like Arrow is going to be a much grittier type of superhero show.

The first clip from the CW's Arrow -- which has just been picked up for the network's fall lineup -- features an out-of-costume Ollie Queen (Stephen Amell) getting into fighting shape and showing off his impressive archery skills, as well as revealing the show's official logo.
It looks like Arrow is going to go the voiceover narration route to reveal Ollie's inner thoughts -- in this clip, we learn that the Green Arrow's debut mission involves foiling an abduction.
Arrow also stars Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance/Black Canary, Colin Donnell as Tommy Merlyn, Willa Holland as Thea Queen, and Susanna Thompson as Moira Queen.

As expected, the CW has officially picked up Arrow, the Stephen Amell-starring TV adaptation of DC's Green Arrow, for a full first season this fall.
Here's the official synopsis, which has changed a few of the details you know from the comics:
After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he's become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow - a vigilante - to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory.
Arrow also stars Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance/Black Canary, Colin Donnell as Tommy Merlyn, Willa Holland as Thea Queen, and Susanna Thompson as Moira Queen.
The pilot episode was directed by David Nutter, whose other TV work includes episodes of Game of Thrones.

The CW's Green Arrow TV series, Arrow, is now considered a "lock" to be picked up for a first season, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The network sees the Stephen Amell-starring series as a replacement for popular superhero drama Smallville, and it will reportedly be a "dark and gritty" take on the Green Arrow story.
We should know more soon. Network upfronts -- where studios begin showing off the pilot episodes of their promising new shows -- are due to start in two weeks.
