To promote the launch of the new IKEA catalog for iPad, IKEA Norway and ad agency SMFB introduced a "conductive sewing kit" that makes gloves touchscreen compatible.
The IKEA Beröra, which comes with needles and conductive thread to sew into the index fingers of gloves (or the fingery part of mittens), turned out to be quite useful during the Norwegian winter, when it's not a good idea to go outside bare-handed.
12,000 kits were made, and the entire supply sold out in two weeks. No word on whether IKEA plans to make more of the popular product.
