A Silicon Valley millionaire has been arrested for swapping barcodes on Lego sets at Target stores to buy them at reduced prices, and then flipping them on eBay at a profit.

Thomas Langenbach, an executive at SAP, was caught by Target security after pulling his scam at two stores in the same day.

"In his house, we found hundreds of boxes of unopened Lego sets," said Liz Wylie, a spokeswoman for the Mountain View police. "He sold 2,100 items in just over a year on eBay, and made $30,000."

Although police believe his motive was money, Langenbach could have picked any product to resell. That investigators also found "many, many sets of Legos that he had built, separated in bricks by color, by type, by size" at his $2 million home suggests he may also have been motivated by obsessive Lego fandom.
