This amazing series of pictures comes from photographer Dulce Pinzon, who explained the concept of her project:

"The Real Story of the superheroes" reintroduce[s] the Mexican immigrant in New York in a satirical documentary style featuring ordinary men and women in their work environment donning superhero garb, thus raising questions of both our definition of heroism and our ignorance of and indifference to the workforce that fuels our ever-consuming economy.

This is the combination of watercolor and ferrofluid, a magnetic liquid, that has been used to create some truly stunning works of art. You don't want to miss the other images and a video of the process.

Finger Camera of the Day

A research group at Japan's Institute of Advanced Media Arts and Sciences has developed a finger-mounted "Ubi-Camera" that takes photos when you form a picture frame with your hands.

The rectangle formed by your thumbs and index fingers becomes the viewfinder, and the prototype camera uses a range sensor to frame the image based on the distance between the camera and your face.

Right now, the Ubi-Camera uses infrared technology to detect photographers' faces, but the designers say they'd eventually like to use the camera itself for more reliable face detection.

No word on when this magical technology might actually make it to market.
