After much speculation about Loki's alien army in The Avengers -- are they Skrulls, or something else entirely? -- we have our first good look at one of Loki's soldiers, courtesy of a C2E2 presentation from toy company Diamond Select.

Diamond is marketing a 7-inch figure of one of the baddies, simply called "Loki's Army Footsoldier." It has grey skin and gold armor, and looks distinctly un-Skrull-like.

Fortunately, Joss Whedon himself has settled the ongoing debate about the invading army: they're the Chitauri, a shapeshifting race from the Ultimate Marvel Universe that has been referred to as "Skrulls" on some other planets.

So, they're not exactly Skrulls. More like Skrulls-plus.

A prop auction that includes some pieces from Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman reboot, Man of Steel, also includes some possible spoilers for the movies.

One of the lots in the auction includes a bulletin board owned by Lois Lane, where's she's tacked up a Daily Planet story she wrote about a mysterious illness affecting residents of the Metropolis area.

The photo for the story appears to be a black rock, which may be extraterrestrial in origin. Whether it's an artifact that arrived with Kal-El or part of General Zod's scheme against Earth remains to be seen.

The prop in question came from the Plano, IL set that stands in for Smallville, though, so it seems Lois' investigations will take her to Clark Kent's neck of the woods.

Pre-release photos of Heroclix figures for The Avengers may have spoiled one of the movie's most-discussed plot points.

Along with some choice quotes from our heroes -- Spoiler: Nick Fury says "You better save me, I'm the boss!" at some point -- there's also a figure for a major villain.

Here's where you stop reading if you want to go into the movie unspoiled.

So, it looks like Loki's alien army, which Marvel has said is definitely not the Skrulls, is the Skrulls after all. One of the Heroclix is a Skrull Infiltrator with the ability "I can look just like you."

Spoiled by a toy! Ah well, at least it wasn't a Pez dispenser this time.

The Avengers hits theaters on May 4th.

Plot details from Zack Snyder's Superman reboot, Man of Steel, are scarce, but a leaked call sheet from the movie's Vancouver set reveals some new information about Superman's Kryptonian origins and Clark Kent's life on Earth.

Warning: major spoilers ahead.

It looks like Jor-El, played by Russell Crowe, is wounded by an energy lance in an attack on Krypton, and he and Lara (Ayelet Zurer) infuse baby Superman's with a "codex" before launching him toward Earth in a pod. Kelex -- one of the robot assistants to the House of El -- also appears to be in the scene.

Although this isn't explicit in the call sheet, it looks like baby Kal-El is being sent to Earth with knowledge of his home planet, which would be a twist on the typical Superman origin story.

Then, on Earth, we see Clark Kent at work in a roadhouse bar, trying to keep himself in check as he deals with drunken patrons. The call sheet mentions logging trucks outside the bar, which may explain one of the more exciting Man of Steel set photos we've seen thus far.

What do you think about Snyder's take on Superman, based on the little we know so far?

Man of Steel is due out June 14th, 2013.
