The mighty 90-year-old Stan Lee won't go down without a fight. He recently received surgery for the installation of a miniature arc reactor pacemaker, but The Man issued this statement to ease his supporters:

Attention, Troops! This is a dispatch sent from your beloved Generalissimo, directly from the center of Hollywood's combat zone! Now hear this! Your leader hath not deserted thee! In an effort to be more like my fellow Avenger, Tony Stark, I have had an electronic pace-maker placed near my heart to insure that I'll be able to lead thee for another 90 years. But fear thee not, my valiant warriors. I am in constant touch with our commanders in the field and victory shall soon be ours. Now I must end this dispatch and join my troops, for an army without a leader is like a day without a cameo!

A terrific tribute to Stan Lee and his marvelous mutants.

With an Amazon pre-order, fans will be able to play as Stan "The Man" Lee in Beenox's upcoming Amazing Spider-Man game. As this Gamespot video can attest, Stan does whatever a spider can. The "pre-order-only content" trend may be frustrating, but it's tempting to play as the greatest high-flying geriatric since Pixar's Up.

Although he's not technically a superhero, Joss Whedon might as well be one, and now he's got his own Heroclix miniature to prove it. (Embiggen.)

To promote Morgan Spurlock's Comic-Con documentary Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan's Hope, Whedon, Spurlock, Stan "The Man" Lee, and Ain't It Cool News's Harry Knowles are each being turned into Heroclix figurines with thoroughly appropriate special abilities.

One of Joss's moves is "Neil Patrick Harris." It's hard to imagine how anybody could top that.

The four-figure package is part of a Comic-Con Episode IV DVD set, which is not yet up for pre-order.

It's common knowledge that Stan Lee has cameos in most of the Marvel movies (what's up with him not being in Punisher: War Zone?), but now Lee's cameo has crossed over into the animated universe. Lee pops up in the May 6th episode of Ultimate Spider-Man where Spidey has to fight the Hulk.

Stan Lee Media Inc., the company founded by Marvel's Stan Lee (but which no longer has anything to do with the comics icon), is on a lawsuit losing streak.

Last month, SLMI lost a lawsuit attempting to win back the rights to Conan the Barbarian, and now the Second Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that the company won't be allowed to intervene in Lee's ongoing legal battle with Marvel over the rights to some of his best-known characters.

SLMI's previous attempts to regain rights to characters that it claims Lee improperly sold to Marvel have been thwarted by the company's 2001 bankruptcy, which left it with no shareholders who had legal standing to sue Lee or Marvel.

The company's new board reportedly sees the Second Circuit's ruling as an opening to begin its own lawsuit against Lee, which was on hold while the court decided whether SLMI could join the existing Lee vs. Marvel case.

Comics icon Stan Lee is well-known for making cameos in Marvel movies, and now it looks like he's going to be in a Marvel video game, too. Even better, he'll be a playable character. Excelsior!

At the London Super Comic Convention, Lee revealed that players will be able to control him in The Amazing Spider-Man, developed by Activision Blizzard subsidiary Beenox.

It's not yet clear whether you'll be able to play the whole game as Lee, or whether he'll just be available in some kind of DLC bonus mission. It's also not known whether Stan the Man will have the same powers as his creation, or have moves of his own.

The Amazing Spider-Man game is due out June 26th.
