French developer Quantic Dream has unveiled a brand-new 3D engine, running on a PlayStation 3. The as-yet-unnamed engine was designed as a cost-effective way to handle large amounts of motion-capture data and translate actors' performances into games.
The demonstration video was pulled directly from a PS3 in real time. "It's not CG, it's not pre-rendered, it's really the game," says Quantic Dream's David Cage.
Quantic Dream was responsible for the engine behind 2006's Heavy Rain, but the company has yet to announce plans for a game using its impressive new 3D technology.
