Apropos of the Previous Post of the Day

Back when Michael Bay first revealed that the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be neither teenagers nor mutants, The Warp Zone responded with this theme song spoof, aptly titled "Grown-Up Alien Ninja Turtles."

(Sorta not safe for work, descriptions of what Michael Bay is doing to your childhood.)

Mission to Mars of the Day

A Dutch startup called Mars One aims to establish a human colony on Mars by 2023 -- 10 years ahead of NASA's schedule -- and fund the $6 billion project by turning it into "the biggest media event ever."

Yep, it's basically Big Brother on Mars (and, in fact, Big Brother creator Paul Römer is one of Mars One's sponsors).

"To attract sponsors, we will create appealing media content around the selection of the astronauts, the training, unmanned missions and other topics," said Mars One cofounder Bas Lansdorp.

The astronaut selection process -- read: auditions -- for the show will begin in 2012, and the competition will narrow the candidate pool from 40 down to 4 over a decade-long training process. Naturally, viewers will get a say in who gets "voted off" the space mission.

Simon Cowell could not be reached for comment.

Knife-Shooting Slingshot of the Day

Slingshot wizard Joerg Sprave's latest work of art bloody destruction is a slingshot that shoots throwing knives (because apparently just, you know, throwing them wasn't deadly enough).

Don't try this at home, obviously.

Synthetic PictureHaus's much-hyped Portal fan film, Lab Ratt, has finally arrived.

Witness the story of Aperture Science employee prisoner Doug Ratmann as it was always meant to be seen: in kickass live action!

Steak Knife Chainsaw of the Day

Steak knives are cheap, sharp and dangerous. In other words, they're an ideal candidate to be weaponized by noted badass Joerg "Slingshot Channel" Sprave.

Take eight steak knives, add a battery powered drill, and voila!, instant carnage!

Sprave's verdict: "It's crudely made, and I love it."

MythBusters Go Bowling of the Day

Watching Chris Hardwick and his Nerdist colleagues take on other groups of famous geeks in All-Star Celebrity Bowling continues to be inexplicably entertaining.

This week on the most fun you can have watching other people bowl: Team Nerdist vs. Team MythBusters (minus Jamie Hyneman, unfortunately).

Will total ringer Hardwick take down yet another victim, or will a MythBusters victory be confirmed?

Neil Gaiman gave the commencement speech at Philadelphia's University of the Arts, which is equal parts inspiring and funny. It's a nice and refreshing take on the realities of being an artist, which is something that's usually met with groans and jokes about working at Starbucks.
