Earlier today a student armed with a knife at Franklin Regional Senior High School near Pittsburgh, PA attacked and injured at least 20 students. Several have been hospitalized with serious injuries but no deaths have been reported as of this time. Thinking quickly, student Nate Scimio pulled the fire alarm and alerted other students of the emergency. After he was taken to the hospital, this selfie happened.

Frankly, making some derisive comment about "kids these days" seems totally unwarranted when the kid involved likely saved lives. Of course, that didn't stop the press from asking for interviews and snarky comments like this:

Selfie earned, selfie deserved, Mr. Scimio.

Kid President has some more very inspirational words for us to live by. I feel that number 18 on the list is particularly beneficial to all men and women alike...in moderation, of course.

Our favorite five-year-old Batkid and Leukemia survivor, Miles Scott, has now been immortalized in a big-screen trailer recapping his heroic efforts to save the city of San Francisco along side Batman last week. This is sure to put a smile on Miles' face!

Last we checked on the Batkid, a young boy whose Make a Wish Foundation gave him a day to clean up the streets of San Fran as the Dark Knight, he was in training for his big day (undoubtedly brushing up on his martial arts and polishing some batarangs). As of today, he's saved a damsel in distress, put the Riddler behind bars, and will soon be receiving a key to the city from the mayor himself. Check out more live updates here!

UPDATE: Watch the ABC News coverage of crowds of people cheering on Miles as he comes to the rescue as Batboy!
