Master Seaman Francis Legare won a raffle to be the first off the ship to kiss someone he loves as part of a navy homecoming tradition. When his ship HMCS Winnipeg docked in Victoria, Legare gave a kiss to his partner, Corey Vautour. In this case, it was a kiss that made Canadian history by being the first same-sex kiss between men.

This isn't the first same-sex kiss shared in the Canadian Navy ever. That honor goes to a female member of the navy and her partner in 2015 at CFB Esquimalt, according to The Star.

Guys, remember Charlie the Unicorn?

So far there have been four episodes released since the first one in 2005. The most recent was published in 2012. Now the creator of Charlie the Unicorn is hoping to make a spectacular, 30-minute long finale.

On a Kickstarter page created to fund this new project he promises:

It's going to be ridiculous, and musical, and extremely complicated to animate. Maybe not for Pixar, with their supercomputers and fur physics and blood pact with Yuroth, but complicated for me at least.

According to Know Your Meme, $52,000 of the $35,000 goal was funded in the first 24 hours.

The project is currently funded at $70,575 with 27 days to go. While stretch goals weren't really something he considered, he did suggest that, "If this raises just an absurd amount of money I'll attempt to hire Aubrey Plaza to play every single character and release an Aubrey Plaza edition."

So it seems like we have that to look forward to.

Access to secret menus sometimes called Ed Boon or EJB menus (after co-creator Ed Boon) have finally been found. It only took 23 years...

This wasn't discovered in the past two days, as the man in the video says, but they were still found very recently. According to Eurogamer these menus were found late last year by the folks at a website called The Cutting Room Floor as they looked through the classic game's code.

According to the video description, anyone can access this special menu on Mortak Kombat 1, 2 and 3 using these instructions:

The code is P1 Block (x times) then P2 Block (x times) then P1 Block (x times) etc...

MK1...

P1 (5), P2 (10), P1 (2), P2 (1), P1 (2), P2 (3), P1 (4)

MK2...

P1 (5), P2 (10), P1 (2), P2 (8), P1 (2)

MK3/UMK3...

P1 (5), P2 (10), P1 (3), P2 (1), P1 (2), P2 (2), P1 (3), P2 (4)

This beautiful video is a look at a map of the Milky Way that was just released. The video description explains in detail about how the image was made:

This video takes a close look at a new image of the Milky Way released to mark the completion of the APEX Telescope Large Area Survey of the Galaxy (ATLASGAL). The APEX telescope in Chile has mapped the full area of the Galactic Plane visible from the southern hemisphere for the first time at submillimetre wavelengths — between infrared light and radio waves — and in finer detail than recent space-based surveys.

The APEX data, at a wavelength of 0.87 millimetres, shows up in red and the background blue image was imaged at shorter infrared wavelengths by the NASA Spitzer Space Telescope as part of the GLIMPSE survey. The fainter extended red structures come from complementary observations made by ESA's Planck satellite.

The teen who filmed the 'Damn, Daniel' meme has been swatted, a term that's showing up more often as having a SWAT team called on someone as a prank becomes more and more common. Police in Riverside, California were called to his house to investigate a claim that the teen had shot his mom. When they arrived they discovered that it was "all a hoax".

Thankfully, no one was hurt. The police currently have no leads on who could have made the fake emergency call.

Internet fame isn't all bad though. At least the 'Damn, Daniel' guys got to be on Ellen, right? I mean Daniel got a lifetime supply of shoes. And Josh, the one who got a SWAT team called to his house, got... a surfboard. Cool.

In preparation for his return to Earth, astronaut Scott Kelly decided to have a little fun. When he returns he'll have stayed been in space for 520 consecutive days, a US record. He's also given a not as funny interview reflecting on his one year mission.

During a town hall meeting in Fairfax, VA, John Kasich proudly proclaimed that during some of his earlier political campaigns women "left their kitchens" to support him. Since there are people out there who view women as real people who aren't confined to the kitchen, that didn't go over very well.

Obviously the protesters and opponents of Kasich took that comment and ran with it to voice their criticism.

What might be surprising is that even his supporters wouldn't put up with that comment. At the very end of the video a woman stands up to ask a question. She can't help but start off by bringing up the comment about women coming out of the kitchen, saying, "I'll come to support you. But I won’t be coming out of the kitchen."

When asked about it in an interview with CNN he sort of apologized, saying "Sure! I'm sorry," when the anchor asked why he didn't just apologize to the people who might have been offended.
