Air Travel Nightmare of the Day: Door Falls Off Bono’s Plane

In the most recent terrifying news from the sky, a door fell off Bono's private plane Wednesday. The U2 frontman was traveling from Dublin to Berlin for the Bambi Awards, where his band was being honored and was scheduled to perform.

The door was on the rear of the plane where the luggage is kept, and no one knows how it happened.

"There can be many reasons for this incident. Either something broke on the door or the door wasn't closed properly. Those are the usual problems that occur," an official with the German Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation said.

Most likely, however the pilot blew the door off in frustration, after he couldn't figure out how to remove U2's "Songs of Innocence" from his iTunes library.

This is the stuff of nightmares, especially if you're already scared of flying.

An Air Canada flight was forced to make a crash landing on Thursday, when one of its tires burst soon after take-off from Calgary.

But as the plane went down, the landing gear collapsed, and its propeller broke off, slicing into the plane and hitting passenger Christina Kurylo in the head.

Fortunately, no one died, and there were only minor injuries.

"I'm really lucky. It could have been a million times worse," said Christina Kurylo. "I could have died, you know, you never know what could have happened."

Kurylo was one of 5 employees from an Alberta-based radio station that were all on board when the incident occurred. And they seem to be taking it all in stride.

If you thought a Google Street View vehicle hitting a donkey was reckless, try a triple hit-and-run attempt involving two mini-vans and a truck. Apparently that's what happened in Bogor, Indonesia yesterday, when a Google Street View driver crashed into multiple cars while trying to flee from the first collision with a mini-van. According to the local officials, it all began when the driver crashed his Subaru hatchback into a public minivan while on the job, but upon arriving at a repair garage nearby to sort out the damage and the cost, the driver panicked and tried to drive away, though he eventually gave up after crashing into a second bus and a parked truck less than two miles away from the scene. While the driver's name or the total cost of damages remain unknown, the police says the driver was released after sorting out the payments for the vehicles and had he not tried to dodge the initial bill, it would have cost somewhere around 200,000 rupiah, or about $17.

A lucky tow truck driver in Norway manages to bail out of his vehicle just before the semi truck he's towing plunges over the edge of a snow-covered cliff.

The equally-lucky driver of the semi survived the tumble with just a couple of broken bones.
