Facebook and Instagram were down for a brief period of time on Monday, and this was enough to send some people into a panic.

The local 911 dispatcher in the East Bay area of California told the Claycord blog that they received 5 different calls from people complaining about the outage.

“Our lines are [sic] dedicated to handle life and death calls, and even though Facebook is important to a lot of people, it’s not a matter of life and death when it stops working,” the dispatcher said. “One caller even called back to tell me I was being rude because I told her it wasn’t a life threatening emergency.”

The hacker group Lizard Squad initially claimed responsibility for the outage, but Facebook later issued a statement denying the group’s involvement.

“Earlier today many people had trouble accessing Facebook and Instagram,” they said. “This was not the result of a third party attack but instead occurred after we introduced a change that affected our configuration systems. We moved quickly to fix the problem, and both services are back to 100% for everyone.”

Fortunately it only lasted an hour, so these 5 terrible people were able to quickly get back to posting selfies, babies and gross food pictures. PHEW.

Fail of the Day: QVC Host and Isaac Mizrahi Debate Whether the Moon is a Planet or a Star

This conversation will hurt your brain.

QVC is not typically the go-to place for spirited discussions about the mysteries and marvels of space, but this week host Shawn Killinger and fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi turned it into one.

Killinger was presenting a "Cherry Blossom Print Boyfriend Cardigan" design by Mizrahi which she thinks looks like the Earth "when you're a bazillion miles away from the planet moon."

And from this point forward we realize our education system has failed us, at least in the science department.

"From the planet moon…" repeats Mizrahi.

"Isn't the moon a star?" she asks, questioning herself.

"No the moon is a planet darling," he says, but Killinger isn't so sure anymore.

"The sun is a star. Is the moon really a planet?" She wonders.

It goes on like this for while. They get people to Google it for them off camera, and Killinger makes a joke about having a blonde moment.

Maybe QVC can book Neil deGrasse Tyson next week to set everyone straight, and while he's at it, pitch his own line of celestial vests and ties.

If you still haven't found that perfect gift for someone this Christmas, how about a "burger ring?"

They're both stunning and delicious.

Whitney Beseler was a contestant on "Millionaire Hot Seat" Tuesday night, but she was eliminated after the first question.

"Which of these is not a piece of jewelry commonly worn to symbolize a relationship between two people?"

The key word here being "not."

"That is the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me," she said after realizing her mistake.

Yup, you are correct!

Ouch. When life hands you Lemon, things get awkward really fast.

In an interview Tuesday with Joan Tarshis, one of the women who recently spoke up about new allegations of sexual assault against Bill Cosby, CNN anchor Don Lemon offered some very unusual advice on how she might have avoided it.

Lemon: You — you know, there are ways not to perform oral sex if you didn't want to do it.

Tarshis: I was kind of stoned at the time, and quite honestly, that didn't even enter my mind. Now I wish it would have.

Lemon: Right. Meaning the using of the teeth, right?

Following the interview, Twitter users took to the hashtag #DonLemonReporting to express their meme-rage.
