It's not that surprising but some old prints of Harry Potter books can net you thousands of dollars if you're willing to part with your childhood reading material. Like with many collectors items, the price varies by edition and rarity.

According to the Independent, the most valuable Harry Potter books are first edition hardcovers of "The Philosopher's Stone" from 1997. In these books JK Rowling was credited as 'Joanne Rowling' and there were only 500 copies made, 300 of which became library books.

A find that that could be worth up to $50,000.

Harry Potter fans may remember the Weasley's magical clock that always knows the location of family members.

via Harry Potter Wikia

Well, someone made a real life version of that clock. Using the GPS of his family's smartphones, Imgur user tbornottb was able to program the clock to light up when they reached different locations. Reading through the step by step process makes it seem almost easy.  All it took was a whole lot of wires, lights, programming, app coordinating....

It was basically magic.

The result of all that work is a beautiful piece of technology and probably well worth it. Although it does carry the implication that your parents will know your location at all times...

Author J.K. Rowling is known for her scathing quips toward people who say things that are sexist, racist, homophobic or generally awful. Also she wrote the very, very famous Harry Potter Series.

This time she tweeted back to a Donald Trump spokeswoman who made a zenophobic remark regarding Americans born outside the U.S. who are (or would like to be) leaders of the country.

Ouch, Katrina Pierson. You need a freezing spell for that burn?

By Grabthar's Hammer what a devastating loss. Esteemed British Actor Alan Rickman has passed away at 69 after a battle with cancer.

Rickman was known by many for his exceptional portrayal of the complex and conflicted villain Severus Snape in the films adapted from J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter books.

But real-talk the strapping lad could make most anything epic.

From his acclaimed role as criminal mastermind Hans Gruber in Die Hard:

To that time when director, Kevin Smith, recognized he'd happened upon a British stud who had a voice deeper and richer than a Ghirardelli 98% Dark Chocolate bar. Yeah the voice of a god. Literally:

To what was one of his arguably best roles as Colonel Brandon in Ang Lee's 'Sense and Sensibility':

Throughout his career Rickman continually demonstrated an awe-inspiring range, while at the same time establishing himself as something of a legendary 'bad guy.' Let's get real though, his bit in Galaxy Quest — the epic sci-fi romp — kind of takes the cake.

RIP Alan Rickman, you'll be fiercely missed.
