Rats are having quite a year.

First it was Pizza Rat and now it's Selfie Rat.

Don Richards says he was visiting Brooklyn this week when he captured incredible footage of a rat climbing on top of a sleeping man in the subway and inadvertently taking a selfie with the man's phone.

Looks like they had good parents after all.

After a video went viral yesterday of MLB announcers mocking sorority girls ignoring a baseball game to take selfies, the Arizona Diamondbacks wanted to make things good with the women of Alpha Chi Omega.

They offered the sorority free tickets to an upcoming game in hopes of making everything square, showing there were no hard feelings.

In a classy response, the sorority publicly thanked the organization, but said the tickets would be better used for a charity. They also brought attention to the fact that October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and invited people to donate toward protecting families.

Alpha Chi Omega at Arizona State University would like to thank the Arizona Diamondbacks and Fox Sports for reaching out...

Just a perfect response.

But also, ladies, we all know that selfies have killed more people than sharks this year. So, please capture your experiences responsibly.

Bonny and Clyde, they ain't.

A couple of very smart people bragged about their Aug. 24 Asheville, Ohio bank robbery by posting pictures on social media with the wads of cash they took from the bank tellers.

This is obviously not a smart idea.

According to Sostre News:

Police were helped in their investigation by the clear images showing John Mogan and Ashley Duboe hamming it up with their fortune in greenbacks. Four days after the robbery, they began posting photos of their loot, and one friend complained that Mogan " didn't hook a brother up."

Mogan and Duboe were arrested this week for the August 24 robbery. Police say they gave a note to the teller in the Ashville bank, and walked out with a tall stack of bills. He looks nervous on the surveillance video, but in the days after the heist, they both looked gleeful on their Facebook postings.

Apparently, Morgan had just gotten out of state prison for an earlier bank robbery. He put on make up to disguise his face and neck tattoos. But sadly, nothing could disguise his stupidity.

Selfies have proven more dangerous than sharks in 2015.

Put the selfie stick down.

There have been a lot of global deaths this year connected with selfies. And with the death of a 66-year-old Japanese tourist trying to get a picture of himself at the Taj Mahal, it brings up a whole lot of questions about why we are risking our lives to get these snapshots.

The Guardian had compiled some of the stories behind these unfortunate deaths in trying to answer the larger question of 'why?'.

The incident now takes the death toll of officially recorded selfie-related deaths to 12. Previous incidents this year include a man who was gored to death taking a picture during a bull run in a Spanish town, and two men who accidentally blew themselves up in the Russian Ural mountains when posing with a live grenade. The picture was discovered saved to the camera roll on one of the men's phones.

Other selfie related deaths this year in Russia alone include a 21-year-old woman in Moscow who shot herself in the head while pointing a 9mm pistol at her temple, another who reportedly fell from a bridge and a teenager in Ryazan who died when coming into contact with live wires while snapping a portrait near to railway tracks.

They mention that 'hundreds' of injuries led Russian authorities to compile a nation-wide safety campaign to increase selfie awareness.

Mashable put their best accountants on it and found out that our vain exploration to take pictures of ourselves has caused more death than sharks.

They have a helpful chart to accompany the information.

What the hell is happening?

Why can't you people control yourselves?

Keep it together, world.

And then it's time to destroy your face...
