We lost a lot of beloved cultural figures in 2016. It felt like every time our phones lit up, our hearts would sink, thinking about the elderly and not-so elderly heroes we could lose in an instant. Let’s hope next year is better.

But while we look to the future, an updated version of The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover has been making the rounds on the internet. From Bowie to Prince, and Brexit to Toblerone, Sgt. Pepper’s Class of 2016 is stark reminder of the past year.

The piece was designed by artist Chris Barker, who first posted the image to Tumblr over Thanksgiving, but has since updated it to include the George Michael, among others. You can read more about Barker’s process and the experience of going viral over on his Tumblr. For now, sit and think about this absolutely bonkers and terribly sad year that passed.

Keith Richards must be getting bored in his old age and decided to start some beef against his rock n' roll legend counterparts.

In an Aug. 5 interview with Esquire the 71-year-old Rolling Stones guitarist decided to let loose on The Beatles' 1967 psychedelic opus Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

"The Beatles sounded great when they were the Beatles," he said. "But there's not a lot of roots in that music. I think they got carried away. Why not? If you're the Beatles in the Sixties, you just get carried away – you forget what it is you wanted to do. You're starting to do Sgt. Pepper. Some people think it's a genius album, but I think it's a mishmash of rubbish, kind of like Satanic Majesties – 'Oh, if you can make a load of sh*t, so can we.'"

Drake vs. Meek Mills it ain't.

Paul McCartney was probably all like

While Ringo was probably all

Rolling Stone magazine also probably took it a bit personally, since they named Sgt. Pepper the greatest album of all time.

The living local monument fell victim to an infestation of insects that couldn't be bested. According to Councilman Tom LaBonge, a new one will be planted in its stead shortly.

I imagine the White Album must have been a welcome respite after Sgt. Pepper.
