Teaching can be quite the thankless job, especially when faced with a 6-year-old bully day in and day out.

But one San Antonio, TX, kindergarten teacher turned her revenge fantasy into reality in May, when she had her class of 24 line up and take turns hitting the class bully, raining repeated blows to Aidan Neely's head, face, and back.

"The teacher told him not to tell us," Aidan's mom said.

When news of the creative discipline finally reached the principal -- and school parents -- last week, the teacher was fired. Now Aidan's mom is on a mission to make sure she's never again allowed in a classroom.

Kameron Slade, a fifth-grader from Queens, NY, was scheduled to deliver a speech as part of a school-wide competition at PS 195. But when the principal learned Kameron's speech was about same-sex marriage, he was ordered to choose a new topic or lose the opportunity to speak.

From the banned speech:

Some people are for same-gender marriage, while others are against it. Like President Obama, I believe that all people should have the right to marry whoever they want. Marriage is about love, support, and commitment. So who are we to judge? If we judge people like this, this is a form of prejudice. We must learn to accept all differences. ... My mom is very open to me about same-gender marriage. However, some adults may feel uncomfortable and think it's inappropriate to talk about this to children. I think adults must realize that as children get older, they become aware of these mature issues that are going on in the world. If children read or watch the news, they can learn about things like same-gender marriage, so what's the point in trying to hide it? In conclusion, I hope that everyone understands how important it is to respect everyone for who they are. Same-gender marriage is becoming more popular. I believe that same-gender marriage should be accepted worldwide and that parents and teachers should start to discuss these issues without shame to their children.

An elected member of the Imperial Irrigation District of California's Imperial Valley is under investigation after he was caught on camera striking his stepson with a belt during a game of backyard catch.

Anthony Sanchez has not been charged with anything and reportedly is cooperating with authorities.

"What's happening in the context of the video itself is certainly disturbing," said Ryan Childers, Sanchez's attorney. "We recognize that. But we need to let the Sheriff's Office have time to fully investigate the incident so all the facts can come to light."

The neighbor, Oscar Lopez, initially didn't start taping because he believes in a father's right to discipline his kid. But when "it got out of line," he hit record.

This is not just some drunk down the street. This is a guy in leadership here. He is supposed to be representing the people of District 5... I'm happy that he's been identified, and maybe they don't prosecute him. Maybe he's not found guilty, but at least it got out and somebody knows.

In the only appropriate response to last week's incident in Miami where one man was caught eating another man's face, notorious YouTube assclown Vitaly Zdorovetskiy dressed up as a zombie and terrorized the city's residents.

Thankfully, he went to the trouble of adding a disclaimer to his video: "Very Dangerous Prank! Almost Got Shot at 2:00! DO NOT TRY IT!"

In related news, Ronald Poppo, the homeless man who had his face eaten off, remains in critical condition.

Earlier this month, a North Carolina pastor suggested rounding up gays and lesbians and starving them to death.

Just yesterday, an audio file of a Kansas pastor saying the government should kill gays made the rounds.

Now, we are confronted with perhaps the most egregious homophobic offense in recent weeks -- a youngster at Apostolic Truth Tabernacle in Greensburg, Indiana, belted out "Ain't No Homos Gonna Make It To Heaven," and the congregation rewarded him with a standing ovation.

Dharun Ravi, the former Rutgers roommate of Tyler Clementi, was sentenced to just 30 days in jail today after being found guilty of invasion of privacy, bias intimidation, evidence tampering, and other counts for using a webcam to tape Clementi having sex with another man. Clementi jumped to his death from the George Washington Bridge in September 2010, just days after he learned of the video and an accompanying Twitter feed.

Judge Glenn Berman's lectured Ravi before announcing the relatively light sentence: "You lied to your roommate who placed his trust in you without any conditions, and you violated it. I haven't heard you apologize once." Ravi had faced up to 10 years.

In addition to his jail term, Ravi was ordered to complete 300 hours of community service; attend a counseling program for cyberbullying and alternative lifestyles; pay $10,000 to a group that helps victims of bias crimes; and serve a three-year probation sentence. Prosecutors plan to appeal.

The Humane Society of the United States is out with another damning undercover investigation, this one into the mistreatment of the famed Tennessee Walking Horses, show horses known for their unique four-beat "running walk."

The investigation found many of the horses to be subjected to a cruel practice known as soring -- the intentional infliction of pain to feet and legs to produce an exaggerated gait known as the "Big Lick."

The video shows Jackie McConnell, one of the sport's leading trainers, and his stable hands beating horses with wooden sticks and using electric cattle prods on them to make them lift their feet in the pronounced gait judges like to see. McConnell's staff also apply caustic chemicals to the ankles of the horses and them wrap them with plastic wrap so the chemicals eat into the skin.

"That creates intense pain and then the ankles are wrapped with large metal chains so the horses flinch, or raise their feet even higher," said the Humane Society's Keith Dane.

Soring has been illegal for more than 40 years under the federal Horse Protection Act. As a result of the HSUS investigation, McConnell and his associates have been charged with felony conspiracy to violate the HPA, as well as numerous violations of the Tennessee Cruelty to Animals Statute. McConnell is expected to plead guilty to one count.

(Heads up -- graphic animal abuse.)
