"From one mouse to another," read the photo she tweeted. "I don't support drug use and I never have. I was referring to the song called "Have You Seen Molly" written by my friend Cedric Gervais who I almost worked with on my album..."
Deadmau5 saw her photo and replied: Fair enough, I was just voicing my concerns as I usually do. +1 respect for clearing it up personally ... regardless, just be a little more aware of what you should represent at EDM events, and I'll watch my mouth."
Madonna replied that "communication is always best," and suggested that he should have called her so they didn't have to clear the air in public.
Yesterday, Deadmau5 railed against the pop star and called her a "f*cking idiot" after she asked the crowd if they had "seen molly." Molly is a slang term for MDMA, the drug known as "ecstasy."
The electronic music producer accused Madonna of reinforcing the negative association between drugs and house music to make herself seem more relevant.
"How many people in this crowd have seen molly?" asks the Material Girl, 47 seconds into the above video. "Molly" is slang for MDMA, a psychoactive drug better known as "ecstasy."
Deadmau5 subsequently launched an attack against the pop artist on Twitter and Facebook, criticizing her reference to the drug that is frequently associated with electronic music.
"Very classy there madonna. "HUR DUR HAS ANYONE SEEN MOLLY???" such a great message for the young music lovers at ultra," he wrote on Facebook. "quite the f'n philanthropist. but hey, at least yer HIP AND TRENDY! f*cking cant smack my head hard enough right now."
The house producer added that her behavior was irresponsible, and that she only referenced the negative association between house music and drugs to make herself seem more relevant.
