Oscar winner Kathy Bates is set to play the ghost of Charlie Harper on CBS' Two and a Half Men, and Sheen is reportedly "honored" that she'll be stepping into his old role for an episode.

TMZ suggests Bates' hiring was a deliberate dig at the sitcom's former star, but sources say the actor loves Bates, and thinks she's incredibly funny and talented.

The insiders added that Sheen is eagerly awaiting the April 30th episode that will feature her cameo.

The Harry's Law actress will play the ghost of Charlie Harper -- Sheen's old role -- when his brother Alan has a minor heart attack.

The Anger Management star was killed off the show early this season after he had a public falling out with show creator Chuck Lorre.

The ghost of Charlie Harper is returning to CBS' Two and a Half Men, but instead of Charlie Sheen, the network is bringing in Oscar winner Kathy Bates.

The Harry's Law actress will step into the ghoulish shoes of the deceased TV character for the April 30th episode. The ghost will visit his brother Alan, who will have suffered a heart attack.

No word on how they'll be explaining Harper's transformation into a woman, but it's not a far leap for a show that has spent an entire season negotiating the absence of Sheen's character.

Harper was killed off at the beginning of the current season after Sheen had a falling out with series creator Chuck Lorre.

Meanwhile, Sheen's new show, Anger Management, will debut June 28th on FX.

Former Two and a Half Men star Charlie Sheen seems to be recovering nicely from his epic meltdown last year. Or his career does, at any rate.

After landing an FX sitcom called Anger Management, Sheen is now flaunting his out-of-control image in two new commercials.

In an ad for DirectTV, he's a cautionary tale: dump cable for their service or you could wind up meeting Charlie Sheen in a Turkish bath and reenacting scenes from Platoon together. Point taken, although that's probably the least interesting thing Charlie Sheen has ever done in a Turkish bath.

He's also starring in a commercial for Fiat's new 500 Abarth hatchback, which is billed as the "bad boy" of Fiat's car lineup.

Naturally, Sheen drives one through a mansion. He does only have one speed, after all: go.

What do you think of Charlie's career comeback? Winning?
