After the feud between Community creator Dan Harmon and actor Chevy Chase made headlines yesterday, the writer-director took to his blog and apologized to Chase and fans of the NBC comedy.

The director first acknowledged that he should not be commenting on the situation, but he felt "it's conspicuously weird of me to say nothing at all about the giant fart with my name on it that you've been inhaling."

Harmon explained that he played the voicemail he received from Chase (NSFW link) was played for a small crowd of people at a monthly show he does in the back room of a Los Angeles comic book store.

"It was in that venue, months ago, that I made the horrible, childish, self-obsessed, unaware, naive and unprofessional decision to play someone's voicemail to me," wrote Harmon on his Tumblr. "He didn't intend for 150 people to listen and giggle at it, and I didn't intend for millions of people to read angry reports about it."

"That was a dumb, unclassy, inconsiderate move on my part," he continued. "I'm very sorry it's reflecting poorly on the show."

Community creator Dan Harmon is feuding with Chevy Chase, who reportedly walked off the set during filming, and was the subject of a nasty speech Harmon gave at the season wrap party.

Sources say Chase abruptly left the set of the NBC show in a huff last month because he didn't receive a script for that day's scenes.

Later at a wrap party, sources say Harmon gave a "F*ck you, Chevy" speech in front of the actor and his family, and then encouraged the crew to join in on the hate session.

Chase replied with a nasty voicemail (listen to part of the NSFW message here) that Harmon then played for a group of people.

The former Saturday Night Live cast member has a reputation for being difficult, but this rift could be bad news for Community, which has established itself as one of NBC's highest-rated comedies.

Former Saturday Night Live co-stars Dan Aykroyd and Chevy Chase are reuniting for a new film project, according to Akroyd's Facebook page.

The Blues Brothers star revealed in a status update that they are about to begin work on a script concept for a new comedy.

"Cannot say too much about the concept, but the joy of working with him again is one that I am extremely excited about," wrote Aykroyd. "Chevy is one of my favourite people, and one of the great anarchistic and physically committed comedians in the business."

The two actors last worked together on 1991's Nothing But Trouble, and previously starred in Spies Like Us (above).
