Courtney Love is claiming The Muppets have "raped" the memory of her late husband Kurt Kobain because the felted characters covered Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" in their latest feature film.
The Hole frontwoman says she has the last word when it comes to approving the use of Kobain's music, and she never gave them the green-light.
According to TMZ, Love sold half her Nirvana catalogue rights to a company called Primary Wave Music, and they have the right to distribute the songs.
Primary Wave allegedly approved the use of the music in the film, and both remaining Nirvana members, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic, gave their okay. Additionally, both Love and her and Kobain's daughter, Frances Bean, get a payday from The Muppets use of the song.
