Uggie, one of the breakout stars of 2011's The Artist, has confirmed that he will be attending the White House Correspondents Dinner.

The famous pooch will appear with trainer Omar von Muller, as a guest of the Washington Times.

"Uggie has given us a sound bite," Times editor Ed Kelley told The New York Post, adding that "Uggie hopes to meet President Obama while in Washington."

The April 28th dinner will be helmed by late-night host Jimmy Kimmel. Uggie was most recently seen as the adorable new spokesdog for Nintendo. [NewYorkPost]
