boycott

The other day we wrote about White Supremacists on Reddit boycotting Rogue One. Apparently as soon as they make a few Star Wars movies that aren’t about a white dude realizing he’s special, it’s time to #DumpStarWars.

Well, things got even worse, or better if you are opposed to things like racism, sexism, xenophobia, and hatred, when Rogue One-screenwriter Chris Weitz posted this picture to Twitter and indicated that Star Wars was actually about a group of rebels fighting an oppressive, authoritarian government whose philosophy is built on fear.

Calls for boycott shot up on Twitter because the idea of fighting an authoritarian government is bad?

Anyway, no one’s really taking these calls to action on Twitter that seriously. Why? Because it's Star Wars and no matter how many times we're burned by these movies, we’re still going to see them.

The CEO of food delivery app GrubHub added something new to the menu that not everyone seems to like. Offering support to employees who feel marginalized or afraid due to the outcome of the presidential election, CEO Matt Maloney sent out a company-wide memo assuring them that they have his full support. However, those who agree with Trump’s message, he indicates, should get the check.

Maloney, who hoped to assure employees that GrubHub was a company dedicated to diversity and inclusion, alienated employees and customers alike by saying that if they don’t agree with this as the company’s mission statement to “reply to this email with your resignation because you have no place here.”

Some people saw this as getting an unwanted side of intolerance, while others think it’s like getting free guac from Chipotle.

Here’s how twitter reacted:

Kids in Roosevelt High School on Chicago's Northwest Side have been receiving burnt pizza, rotten fruit and generally unhealthy, unappetizing school lunches. Most people don't get excited about school lunch but this takes it a little too far and the kids at this school decided to do something about it. They've created something called The School Lunch Project: Culinary Denial where they share information about the school's lunch provider Aramark as well as pictures of unsatisfactory lunches like this one:

Ultimately, their demands are for better alternatives to the lunch they are offered. Currently, Aramark benefits by being the only food provider in school and lowering their bottom line as much as possible. If kids don't eat, the company might have to change their menu or risk losing profits.
