“Wow. What an awful year 2016 has been," says everyone always. Everyone except the celebrities, YouTube Stars, and living memes of YouTube’s 2016 Rewind.

This is a packed event filled with references to everything that happened this year, except the really, really bad stuff. Well, there's a reference to Bowie passing, but that's it. It's all good times from here on out. Let’s see what we’ve got here:

  1. The Rock
  2. The guy water bottle flipping guy
  3. PewDiePie
  4. Dude Perfect
  5. Something called “I Has Cupquake”
  6. The dude that does magic but covers his mouth electrical tape
  7. The starts of this thing that has over 2 million views

  8. Seth Meyers
  9. Daniel from Damn, Daniel
  10. Carpool Karaoke
  11. Colorful lighting
  12. Pokémon Go
  13. The Slow Mo Guys
  14. Flash Mobs
  15. MUCH, MUCH MORE

Look if your video went viral last year and you’re not in this thing, it’s time to get a new agent. Yeah, I’m talking to you, Misha. Where you at? 45-million views. WHERE YOU AT?

Like everything on YouTube, it’s a real mix of things that are annoying, entertaining, ridiculously cheery, and downright confusing. But that’s what the internet is about, and honestly, it’s better than the other half of the internet, which is startlingly depressing.

The world is filled with questions, so many questions that’s hard to tell which one to answer first.

And then some questions are just unanswerable, even if you’re asking the smart people at MineCon ’16, the annual Minecraft Convention.

One little boy asked said question, and it has left us stunned. Pulling the plush purple pig off the top of his head and raising his hand to get the moderator’s attention, the boy asked simply: “How do you know if somebody is acting as if they were a good person, but in reality, they’re technically not a very good person?”

Wow. Life comes at you fast.

Mark Twain once referred to golf as “a good walk spoiled,” and these dudes are looking to spoil a spoiled walk.

Using a a golf simulator, some garbage, a leaf blower, and a bucket of hail, the team at Dude Perfect are showing us what it’s like to golf in extreme weather. And it's not that pretty.

via Paper

But that’s not all.

They’re leaving what weather and how you golf up to chance, using a weather wheel and a wheel to determine where they would be hitting from. They spin the wheels and do what it says. Then, the other dudes make it happen, which mostly means pelting their friend with garbage.

The Elf on the Shelf is a horrific Christmas tradition.

Designed to scare children into good behavior, the Elf is a cheery-eyed Santa crony. He monitors children for the big man, reports back, and ultimately decides whether you end up on the naughty list or not.

Or so we’re told.

via GIPHY

Since 2004, the Elf on the Shelf has terrorized children with its watchful gaze and frozen smile. Well, it’s time to pay the piper.

The father-son team over at What’s Inside took a razor to the Elf recently to reveal the plastic, cottony innards and shut down this ruse once in for all.

So what was inside? Did the spirits of a thousand convicted murderers flutter out of the Elf’s stomach?

Well, not exactly. It’s mostly just filled with catharsis, plastic beads, and cotton. Still, pretty great to watch this little creep get torn to shreds.

New Yorkers are a rare breed. They’re the type to not take something sitting down. If there’s a problem, they like to get in there and get their hands dirty, and one thing they have no tolerance for is traffic.

Enter YouTuber Coby Persin, a young man who decided to stage a photoshoot at a busy New York intersection, blocking traffic.

Enter a man with a bat, who — well, you know the rest.

Check it out below. Real or fake (most likely the latter), this video is pure catharsis.

You hear it every year:

“Turkey makes me sleepy because I’m a wittle baby.”

You’re probably so sick of hearing that, and not just because you invited a giant talking baby to your Thanksgiving again, but also because it’s not necessarily true.

via GIPHY

Wired has taken umbrage with the idea that the tryptophan-heavy turkey is what causes the Thanksgiving tiredness. In fact, as they point out in this bite-sized video, it’s the whole meal that makes you tired.

From soup to nuts, or whatever Thanksgiving metaphor that works better for this article, the whole meal delivers a hardy mixture of tryptophan and carbs. Ugh, not them again. Basically you get tired because all the food you eat contains these chemicals and all the carbs in potatoes and stuffing you cram down your gullet on Turkey Day force your body to slow down and digest.

Check it out the video and be the smartest person at the table.
