Driving is the type of thing like chewing gum and walking, you can do two things at the same time. Whether it’s putting on some make up or reading a book, the perfect time to do something else is when you’re driving.

Just ask this guy, who decided he needed to live stream his race down the freeway, so followers could get a glimpse at him mugging for the camera and see his car go real fast. What’s weird is that while he was doing those things, he crashed his car. Really bad.

via Latest Funny Stuff

This driver, a 20-year-old from Providence, RI, is now in critical condition, and you can see the whole thing right up to the crash on YouTube because he was streaming his collision course.

It’s not like people driving and looking at their phone endangers other drivers. It’s not like driving is an incredibly dangerous activity that no one seems to respect at all.

Wait, what am I saying? Please stop playing at your phones when you’re driving.

Here’s a dude that’s definitely the worst: This Australian cop who shot a kangaroo right in front of a little kid. Yeah, you read that correctly: Cop shoots kangaroo in front of child. Come on.

News.com.au reports that police were responding to report of an injured kangaroo in north Melbourne, Aust on November 11. Well, one cop responded by shooting an injured kangaroo in the face. Another police officer responded to the officer by saying, “There’s a kid coming.”

Luckily, because this situation can only get worse, the kangaroo didn’t die right away. As News.com.au reports that in the video it can be “seen still twitching and writhing as its blood pools on the footpath.”

Let's take a break from this story:

via Reddit

While the officers say that they did a risk assessment and determined by that the animal needed to be euthanized, they have come under fire for shooting the gun in public

“The police could have definitely handled it better,” said Hash Tropoja, who filmed the incident and uploaded the video to YouTube. “They could have blocked off cars and pedestrians from coming through the line of sight while the sergeant was taking the shot, because the bullet is a small calibre and definitely had the potential to ricochet off of the concrete in to any direction.”

“I think it’s mere luck that nothing tragic happened.”

Nothing tragic, except if you ask the kangaroo, except you can’t ask the kangaroo because the kangaroo was shot and killed. Ugh.

Ok. Let's try to get our minds off this:

On Sunday at 3 in the morning Mark Ross was notified that his sister, Eliza Fletcher (15 years old) had been killed in a car crash. Inside Edition reports that Trooper J. Davis ended up pulling their car over for speeding over 100mph; and that when Davis determined that Ross had an outstanding warrant and that his license had been suspended, he ended up towing their car.

Fast forward a bit, and Ohio State Highway Patrol Sergeant David Robinson showed up and saved the day!

Ross also went on to share some texts he'd exchanged with his sister mere weeks ago. May she rest in peace.

It's been eight years since Heath Ledger died from a lethal drug overdose. Heath Ledger's father recently sat down for an interview to discuss his son's truly tragic death.

“The last conversation Kate had with him was this discussion about his medications and she warned him, ‘‘You can’t mix drugs that you don’t know anything about’,” Ledger’s father Kim told news.com.au.

“He said ‘Katie, Katie, I’ll be fine’. Well, that’s a cavalier boy’s answer. It just put his whole system to sleep I guess,” Mr. Ledger said.

Heath's father went on to say that his son wasn't addicted to opioids--he just made the mistake of mixing the wrong drugs. And that Heath's chaotic work schedule had begun to take its toll on the actor.

“There is pressure on everybody, especially young people, to perform and to keep going. He was a young guy that travelled all the time for work. Even as a two-year-old, he hardly ever slept. He was trying to work and travel and do everything in a short space of time.”

RIP Heath Ledger you were a fiercely talented young man, taken from us all too soon.

George Zimmerman claimed self-defense when he shot and killed a young, unarmed man named Trayvon Martin in 2012. He was acquitted of all charges and now he's selling the gun as "a piece of American history".

Maybe his confederate flag business isn't doing so well?

Bidding starts at $5,000 and he is literally planning to use some of the proceeds to fight Black Lives Matter activists, or as he put it according to the video "fight [Black Lives Matter] violence against law enforcement officers".

This heartfelt letter washed up in a bottle from the ocean to be found by Steve Mershon.  The letter says this:

Dear Daniel, I'm really sorry that you pass away. And if you were alive me and you will be playing football, soccer and basketball with Mathew, Oscar and Brandon. I am in the fifth grade and you were my best friend and our favorite song was Austin Moon and I hope you have fun with Jesus.

From your best friend,
Jonathan Torres

Mershon posted pictures of this message, along with a note to Jonathan on Facebook:

Dear Jonothan Torres.. My name is Steve, and I found your note in a bottle on a beautiful Tuesday morning, April 19th.. First of all, let me tell you what a strong little man you are for writing your best friend that letter.. You show so much love in your heart way beyond your years.. Your parents, friends, teachers, myself, and all of my friends who know I found your letter are so proud of you.. Daniel is a lucky guy to have you as a best friend.. I'm so sorry he passed.. As your letter states, you guys must've played a lot of sports together with Mathew, Oscar and Brandon. I'm sure Daniel would want you to know that when you guys are playing sports, he and Jesus are watching and rooting for you.. Perhaps your next touchdown, goal, or basket you can dedicate to your best friend Daniel. I don't know where you threw your note in the ocean, or how long it was in the water, but it landed in the right hands, Jonothan.. You see, I find lots of things on the beach, and the best ones I keep.. I have shelves full of wood, shells, sunglasses and, yes, bottles.. Jonothan, your bottle, with your letter to your best friend, is the most beautiful thing I have ever found. It would trump anything in my collection.. But I can't.. Won't.. You threw that bottle out to show your love for your best friend.. It is meant to be shared.. I took pictures of it, and shared it with friends on my Facebook page.. It tugged at many heartstrings, Jonothan.. But it's going to be shared with more people.. Like I said, it fell into the right hands.. You see, I think Daniel put the bottle ashore where I found it, and his friend Jesus led me to it. I'll tell you why. I've had plans for a few weeks to go way out on the ocean on a big cruise ship. I'm going to take your letter and your bottle with me. I'm going to add my own little letter to it, Jonothan, and put the cork back in it, and when I find the deepest, prettiest, most blue water I can find, I'm going to throw it back in.. So someone else, along with their friends, can see the love in your heart. You're a good man, Jonothan. I'm hoping maybe, just maybe, the world can see the love in one fifth graders heart, and we can, one by one, all get along.. Peace, little man!

Tony Dyson, known best as the creator of R2-D2, recently passed away in his home in Malta. Now his friends have started a crowdfunding campaign to cover the costs of his funeral services. The GoFundMe page explains:

Sadly, as wonderfully savvy he was with creating, money wasn't one of his strong suits. As the people who love him dearly, we are trying to make his arrangements. His wish was to be donated to science, because he wanted those to look into his brilliant brain. Sadly, due to the circumstances surrounding his death (he died alone in his apartment of natural causes), he wasn't found quickly enough to have this happen.  We believe his next wish was to be cremated. We have gotten an invoice for this to happen, and the cost in US Dollars is close to $8000. Needless to say, this is more money than most of his friends have on hand.Malta does not do cremation, so his body has to be shipped to his home country, England.  This is the major expense and why it is so costly.

So far, the page has raised $3,600 of it's $7,000 goal.

David Bowie passed away from cancer at the age of 69 on Sunday. Mr. Bowie was a legend in the industry. He had a god-given talent for speaking to the outsiders of this world: the misfits, the sexual adventurers, the space explorers, the road-wearied vagabonds, etc; and all this was given life through the medium of what he fittingly termed—genuine soul.

His son, Duncan Jones, confirmed his death on Twitter with a saddening, yet deeply touching tweet:

As Bowie toured cross the world he not only transcended genres, but also eras with his continual commitment to changing up his wardrobe often as possible—from German Expressionism to comedy dell'arte to Japanese kimonos to badass space suits, Bowie wore it all, and stood tall and proud as a testament to challenging the norm.

If you were to settle on an anthem from all his work it was 'Changes' off his 1971 album 'Hunky Dory,' which iconically professed:

"Turn and face the strange / Ch-ch-changes / Oh look out now you rock and rollers / Pretty soon now you're gonna get older."

Mr. Bowie's endlessly changing stage persona inspired later, more colorfully expressive artists like Madonna and Lady Gaga.

His last album 'Blackstar,' a collaboration with a jazz quartet, and exploratory in nature, as is often the case with Bowie, was up to be honored at Carnegie Hall on March 31st.

On a side note when paying your respects to the deceased, and on live television no less, you should probably make it a point to get the person's name right.

Yes, this is a shoutout to Fiona Winchester, a Heart FM newscaster, who stumbled, and fumbled when she was recorded saying, 'David Cameron has died…D-D-David Bowie.' I mean are you fu*king kidding me Winchester?

Anyways, Bowie was a hall of fame rock and roller (quite literally from 1996 onwards), who never quit with aiming higher, producing more music, and connecting with fans—both new and old--through his art. He was loved by many, and he'll be missed immensely.

Rest in peace.

In a recent long-winded, tell-all blog post the creator of Game of Thrones, George R.R. Martin delivered some heavy felt news; we won't have our hands on the 'Winds of Winter' for some time now.

This means Martin's missed another crucial deadline, and perhaps almost worse, season six of the show will now air before it's original source material hits shelves.

Martin explains a bit on what's going on in the following excerpt from his 1800-word long blog post:

Believe me, it gave me no pleasure to type those words. You're disappointed, and you're not alone. My editors and publishers are disappointed, HBO is disappointed, my agents and foreign publishers and translators are disappointed... but no one could possibly be more disappointed than me. For months now I have wanted nothing so much as to be able to say, "I have completed and delivered THE WINDS OF WINTER" on or before the last day of 2015. But the book's not done. Nor is it likely to be finished tomorrow, or next week. Yes, there's a lot written. Hundreds of pages. Dozens of chapters. (Those 'no pages done' reports were insane, the usual garbage internet journalism that I have learned to despise). But there's also a lot still left to write. I am months away still... and that's if the writing goes well. (Sometimes it does. Sometimes it doesn't.) Chapters still to write, of course... but also rewriting. I always do a lot of rewriting, sometimes just polishing, sometimes pretty major restructures.

Let's just keep our fingers crossed the unexpectedly long wait is worth it.

With a heavy, saddened heart you might remember Diesel: the police dog who heroically sacrificed life and limb in the raid that amounted to the apprehension of seven terrorists suspected as responsible for the horrific Paris attacks.

The seven-year-old Diesel took heavy fire, and went down after taking several shots from a female suicide bomber, after scouting the apartment to ensure the quarters was secured.

The world hasn't forgotten Diesel's bravery. She's set to be posthumously awarded by the British veterinary charity, the People's Dispensary for Sick Animals; and also to receive the Dickin Medal. This medal's the animal equivalent to the Victoria Cross, which is Britain's 'highest military awarded for valor in the face of the enemy.'

We hope Diesel's resting in peace up above with an endless procession of doggy treats amidst unparalleled belly rubs in between highly enjoyable bouts of fetch. She was a hero, and she won't be forgotten.

A Chicago police officer shot and killed 19-year-old black man Quintonio Legrier, and 55-year-old black woman Bettie Jones this morning, while responding to a domestic disturbance call, officials said.

As officers were called to the scene this morning at 4:25AM they were informed Legrier was seen brandishing a baseball bat, and in an evolving confrontation with his father. The officers described the young Legrier as a "combative subject."

Legrier's mother told the press his son was dealing with mental issues and was prone to loud, but never violent behavior.

"My son has seven bullet wounds in him," Cooksey told WLS-TV. "That's too much." Police disclosed the shooting is under current investigation, and has been referred to Chicago's main police oversight agency.

This is the saddest story you will hear all day.

When his mother died unexpectedly in her sleep, Lennon James Picco was delivered via emergency C-section at just 24 weeks old.

The child tragically died as well soon after, but before he did, his father, Chris, sang to him for several hours in the NICU.

From the family's memorial site:

Dear friends, family, and supporters; it is with an unbelievably heavy heart that I write this. My little fighter, Lennon James Picco went to sleep in his daddy's arms late last night. He was surrounded by family, friends, and the best doctors, nurses and hospital staff in the world. He was dressed in an outfit that Ashley bought for him, with little guitars on it, and wrapped in a blanket made by a dear friend. I am so thankful for the four unforgettable days I got to spend with him. His mommy would have been so beyond joy to see him and to hold him, touch him, bathe him, sing to him - as I have had the privilege of doing. I have been so blessed and honored to love him before he was formed, to cherish him while mommy carried him, meet him face to precious face, and hold his perfect little body while we said "goodbye for now". There are no words, but I wanted to keep you updated, as your love and support has meant more than anything in the world. All you need is love.

You can donate to help pay for medical expenses here.
