No More Snakes On A Plane: New Rules For Emotional Support Animals

Picture this: you're walking down the aisle in an airplane and when you find your seat, there's a turkey sitting next to it. Or a pig. Or a monkey. It sounds like a comedy routine, but it isn't. In the past few years, there has been an unprecedented rise in people having 'emotional support animals', particularly when traveling on airplanes. While any step towards improving mental health is applauded, there have been many incidents involving emotional support animals on airplanes that really don't belong there. We can't blame these untrained animals for acting the way animals act, but we can question the laws that allow them on board. With new regulations from the US Department of Transport, things are about to change. We discuss these changes below, and whether they are for the better or the worse.

Webster’s dictionary defines hero as a mythological or legendary figure often of divine descent endowed with great strength or ability.

We define hero as someone who punches a kangaroo in the face to save their dog.

Welcome to Australia. The harsh reality of living down under includes worrying that a kangaroo is going steal your dog, and sometimes you have smack a ‘roo to get the dog back. That’s exactly what happens in the video above, which some are calling the most “Austrailian video of all time.”

According to The Daily Telegraph, the footage is of zookeeper Greig Tonkins, who rescued his dog Max from the clutches of a mean old kangaroo by showing the animal what for. This was actually a hunting trip from last June put together for a “sick young man called Kailem who passed away from cancer,” the trip’s organizer Mathew Amor told The Telegraph.

“Basically Kailem wanted to catch a boar,” he said.

The video has been viewed by millions already, but those on the trip had a different interpreation of the event.

“It was funny because the guy who did it is the most placid bloke. We laughed at him for chucking such a sh*t punch.”

Now, that’s the most Australian thing ever.

Here’s a dude that’s definitely the worst: This Australian cop who shot a kangaroo right in front of a little kid. Yeah, you read that correctly: Cop shoots kangaroo in front of child. Come on.

News.com.au reports that police were responding to report of an injured kangaroo in north Melbourne, Aust on November 11. Well, one cop responded by shooting an injured kangaroo in the face. Another police officer responded to the officer by saying, “There’s a kid coming.”

Luckily, because this situation can only get worse, the kangaroo didn’t die right away. As News.com.au reports that in the video it can be “seen still twitching and writhing as its blood pools on the footpath.”

Let's take a break from this story:

While the officers say that they did a risk assessment and determined by that the animal needed to be euthanized, they have come under fire for shooting the gun in public

“The police could have definitely handled it better,” said Hash Tropoja, who filmed the incident and uploaded the video to YouTube. “They could have blocked off cars and pedestrians from coming through the line of sight while the sergeant was taking the shot, because the bullet is a small calibre and definitely had the potential to ricochet off of the concrete in to any direction.”

“I think it’s mere luck that nothing tragic happened.”

Nothing tragic, except if you ask the kangaroo, except you can’t ask the kangaroo because the kangaroo was shot and killed. Ugh.

Ok. Let's try to get our minds off this:

A wildfire broke out in Waroona, in south western Australia, leaving behind damaged property and lives.   The adorable photo has attracted a lot of attention.  The veterinary clinic that is taking care of him mentioned that the burns on his tail aren't affecting his balance so they are hopeful. They also released additional information after a massive response.

I have had a lot of messages about this little man - yes he is a boy. Yes he has some bad burns but has taken this long to catch. We will definitely keep you updated on his progress! Nurse Frosina x

This little guy got some terrible burns but he wasn't the only one.

A family in Adelaide, Australia recently woke up to this guy taking a dip in their pool with the dogs.

After its leisurely swim, they helped the kangaroo out using a broom.

It then chilled out on their patio for a bit before hopping off, because – hey – it's like 80 degrees there right now.
