Fifteen Aerial Photos of Cities Give a Totally Different Perspective

Every city has it's own personality. The winding alleyways, crowded streets, tree-lined rivers and bustling markets of each city feel like they're the first of their kind. There's nothing like eating a bagel in New York, sipping tea in Istanbul, watching the road crossings in Tokyo, eating macaroons in Paris, or waiting for a herd of cows to cross the road in Delhi.

Every city is recognizable when photographed from street level - but what about from an aerial view? This collection of fifteen aerial photos give you a completely new and unexpected perspective of the cities we all love. Enjoy exploring, travelers!

The neighborhood just south of Central Park that stays red unusually late is Midtown, home to Times Square, 30 Rock, and Grand Central Station, and intersected almost right down the middle by Broadway. With so many landmarks, it's a wonder that it doesn't stay red even later. The same goes for the southern tip of the island, home to Wall St., and the financial district. As they say, "money never sleeps."

The New York Times tracked down and interviewed Jeffrey Hillman, the barefoot homeless man who was given a brand new pair of boots by an NYPD officer on duty last week, as famously seen in the viral Facebook photo captured by a tourist who happened to be passing by the scene. Curiously enough, the man was once again barefoot when the Times reporter approached him and when asked why, he responded that he was hiding them in safe place as "they are worth a lot of money."
