Thank you, Literary Twitter for starting our new favorite hashtag challenge. The fun stems from the #OwnVoices hashtag, which addresses the voices of marginalized communities. The hashtag naturally had its critcs; among them was a male author that insisted he was living proof that men are capable of penning realistic female characters. After Gwen C. Katz shared some super-cringey passages of his proof, the challenge was born.
Women on Twitter quickly began parodying the passages, describing their most coveted features in hilarious and painfully flowery fashion. Many of these tweets show greater writing chops than we've seen in some books. While the fetishization of female characters is certainly getting old, we could read these farcical tweets all day.
It's that time of year again! Coachella has revealed it's anticipated 2019 lineup and while some are screaming in delight, others aren't quite as thrilled. One thing everyone can agree on though is that these parody lineups is where it's at. Who are you most excited to see? For us, it's a 3-way tie between 'Blake Lively's Suits', 'Protozoa', and 'Lindsay Lohan (Herbie Fully Loaded)'.
Recently Donald Trump tweeted the word "TREASON?" in light of the New York Times op ed that was published on Wednesday. The article was supposedly written by someone within the Trump Administration, calling themselves part of the "resistance."
After Trump's "treason" tweet, people on Twitter began making their own amusing parodies, which you can read below!
President-elect Donald Trump has vowed to make America as safe as it can possibly be. However, after a week of transition, Trump and his team have failed to make mention of White Men, which are, statistically speaking, “the greatest threat to domestic security for all American Citizens.”
So that’s why Candace Thompson created the White Male Registry as means of monitoring this underreported threat and pointing out the obvious hypocrisy and prejudice of a Muslim registry, which the president-elect and his team have been floating around for, oh, the past year. </p>
In a recent Facebook post, Thompson explained why she created the registry:
“In America 57% of reported rapes and 64% of mass shootings were committed by white men," she writes. "45% of all serial killers are white men. 1 in 3 women will experience some form of domestic violence during their lifetime, and 97% of those domestic violence perpetrators were men.”
“Forget the nation of Islam, our most immediate threat to domestic security is and always has been white, straight men.”

In addition to asking White Men to volunteer and do their civic duty for the country, Thompson also vowed to register “every white man in Washington one by one,” in addition to sending them a message about the registry.
This neat little video comes with a whole website where you can vote on your favorite Game of Thrones character to become the new party leader.
Each candidate has their own information page and platform. There's plenty of GOT merch on the site so fans of the show will no doubt parse these bits of information to come up with theories on future plot developments but it's probably best not to take them too seriously. Part of Petyr Baelish's platform is "Innovations in Transportation".
So well, this is what it's come to huh? No, not actually; but it's only a matter of time before this laughable commentary on gettin' offended becomes a reality.
“From the color of your Starbucks cup to a lion being shot in Africa, don’t miss your chance to get offended today about an issue you didn’t know existed yesterday!”
