She might not be able to ride a bicycle and her little brother might not be potty trained, but this little girl gets it.

Every year for the last four years, she has seen people set these New Year’s resolutions and for what? They think they can just make this promise to themselves, and that’s it. They either make it happen or don't? Well, she’s had it up to hear with you and your resolutions.

Basically, go easy on yourself, ok? Yeesh. Stop spending the rest of the year, beating yourself up about your resolution. It’s not gonna happen all at once. Ugh. Just listen to the little girl. She’ll set you straight.

We all love Star Wars, but you know what would make it even better. Exactly. Hamsters.

The folks over at Mashable have heard a million voices cry out and then silence them. No longer will we waste our time on substandard Star Wars movies or puzzles, because “Hamster Wars” is here.

Watch as the massive Darth Hamster gnaws at his subordinates or as Luke Wheel-walker rescue the galaxy. It’s Star Wars in two minutes. It’s adorable. Enjoy.

Councilman John Filion believes that the squirrels are behind this. He said the city will be installing some squirrel-proof lights so citizens can get “the warm fuzzies.”

The free press marches on.

Journalists speak truth to power — no matter how nuts their subject might be.

via CBC

That’s the case here, when a Canadian reporter tried to talk to a squirrel regarding some damaged Christmas lights. Apparently, squirrels have been chewing through the lights in Mel Lastman Square in Toronto, leaving the area in a holiday blackout. Finally, the citizens of Toronto and Whoville have something in common. Still the pen is mightier than the tooth, and one brave journalist vowed to get to the bottom of this. Watch below as CBC reporter tries to get some answers from this "furry grinch."

A sleeping cat is a perhaps the most perfect thing in the world. But how do you improve on it? How do you make a sleeping cat even cuter?

You don’t change the cat, you change the bed.

via @ArielDumas

Ariel Dumas, a writer for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, took her cat bed to the next level with four tools: a sewing kit, a marker, and two pingpong balls. The result: A monstrous cat bed that’s the perfect domicile for her feline friends.

Now when it’s time for bed, her cats jump into the mouth of a monster, much like Jonah in the belly of a whale. Will the story of this cat and her monster cat bed be added to the Bible in a thousand years? Let’s just go with a cautiously optimistic probably. While we wait for that, enjoy the greatest tweets ever tweeted.

Move over, “Man,” because dogs have found a new best friend, and it’s polar bears.

Yup, in spite of everything happening to polar bears right now, such as losing their homes and attempting to jump from one melting ice sheet to the next, this polar bear took time out of its busy schedule to comfort a dog.

via GIPHY

Putting aside their differences for even just a few moments, this polar bear and dog, who we will now refer to as “The Power Friends,” sat and enjoyed each other’s company in Northern Manitoba, Canada last weekend. Local hero David De Meulles caught the whole exchange on his phone.

"I had no idea what was going to happen, and then sure enough he started petting that dog, acted like he was a friend," David De Meulles said. "I just so happen to catch a video of a lifetime."

"It was a beautiful sight to see, and I just can't believe an animal that big would show that kind of heart toward another animal."

via GIPHY

There’s a lot we can take away from this monstrous beast repressing instinctual its urge to kill long enough to take in the natural beauty and splendor of another living creature. Even if it’s unable to put together rational thoughts or express its feelings orally, on some level this polar bear thought, “I fear not this small creature but understand it has wants and desires like me.” So to the dog must think, “This is my friend, and I want to play with my friend.”

And play they did.

Run free, “Power Friends.” Run free and may we all learn from your connection

Metallica’s done a lot of brilliant things in their career. They have made or been involved with at least four perfect works of art. Their first three albums and the documentary Some Kind of Monster are cultural touchstones that will be looked to and enjoyed for generations.

They’ve also done some things that have not been so great. In 1999, they led the charge against mp3-sharing platform Napster, which alienated some fans — and got some us kicked off the site, not that we’re holding any grudges. They also released St. Anger, which come on.

Jimmy Fallon loves to play games and have fun. He likes to make politicians wear funny pants and give noogies to a reality gameshow host turned most powerful person on the planet. It’s his thing.

And now there’s this, a video of Metallica performing “Enter Sandman” with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots on classroom instruments. Only time will tell if this falls into their works of cultural touchstones or cultural blunders. But honestly, it’ll probably just be a cute thing that makes a lot of people smile for three minutes. Enjoy!

Sphero is a company that creates cool toys that are, not surprisingly, spherical. One of those toys is a tiny BB-8 droid that you can control with your phone app. Now it's got an update that will allow it to "watch" the new Star Wars movie with you and react to it while you're watching.

It can also be controlled by waving your arms around if you're wearing a "force band".

That is a well dressed horse, but why? Apparently, it's almost time for one of the UK's biggest horse racing events, the Cheltenham Festival, and that merits a horse in a tailored tweed suit.

Here's how it was made, and even better, you get to see a man in a tweed suit sitting on a horse in a tweed suit:

This adorable stray puppy needed surgery before she was ready to be adopted. Lucky for her, a very kind surgical assistant was there to comfort her as she was waking up. The original post by BARCS Animal Shelter explains what happened in this sweet video:

Baby Meesha was coming off her anesthesia and was a little scared because her body felt so weird. BARCS Surgical Assistant Dennis Moses took her out into the quiet hallway to comfort her. One of our awesome volunteers just happened to be walking by to capture this sweet moment. Thank you to Dennis and all the staff who work long, tireless hours in the background of our shelter—saving lives and loving the animals. (Turn on the sound, it will melt your heart!)

They also included a follow up post showing Meesha happily snuggling with her new family.

If you love horses and you'd like to have one of your own the US Army has a few they'd like to give away for free. These horses were once caisson horses, they pulled coffins to burials at Arlington Cemetery. However, there comes a time in every caisson horses life when it's time to retire.

The application for adoption is extensive in order to vet the hopeful new owner for their ability to care for the horse. That means these horses will end up in good hands and can spend the rest of their lives enjoying retirement.

This Japanese boy made the mistake of keeping his Nintendo 3DS in the same bag as a poorly capped water bottle.  He was told to contact the company himself to get it repaired and he included this note. According to Kotaku, it says:

I apologize for accidentally getting [my 3DS] wet. I’d like to think I’ve already resigned myself to not seeing my 3DS, which is always with me. From here on out, I aim to close my thermos’ lid correctly. I am truly sorry.

Quasimodo has Short Spine Syndrome, a very rare condition among dogs. It's exactly what it sounds like, he was born with a spine that's shorter than a normal dog because he is missing some vertebra.

His condition doesn't cause him pain but he does need special medical attention for other health conditions. He's been getting lots of love from foster homes since being rescued. Now that he's in the care of Second Hand Hounds he's managed to bring some much needed attention to the organization that rescues dogs (and cats) in dire need and places them in foster homes.
