Probably bad News

This fight in a parking lot in Arizona could have ended a lot worse.

A 24-year-old man named Justin Finch was in a argument with some other guys outside Zia Record Exchange in Phoenix, when they got into their car and tried to run him over.

“It was shocking. I was scared for my life for a minute… I got pinched between two cars,” he said. “This leg got twisted around and stuff. I’m like, afraid.”

But instead of knocking him down, he grabbed onto the trunk of the car and rode on the back as it raced away down the street.

Fortunately, police stopped the car about a mile down the road, and he only ended up with some scratches and bruises.

Finch claims the argument started after the men in the car called him a gay slur, but the drivers are denying this and say he started the whole thing.

No one ended up pressing charges.

One ruthlessly kills thousands of people and the other is nice place to relax in the sun.

In an interview last week with CNN, U.S. Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Ariz. mistakenly referred to Boko Haram, the Islamist terrorist organization in Nigeria, as “Boca Raton,” the city in Florida.

They were discussing the issue of paying ransom to terrorists for kidnapping victims.

“Once you start doing that, then everybody, every American citizen traveling abroad becomes a subject in regard for kidnapping and then the plight of how much money has been captivated in the Boca Raton group,” Gosar said.

The mayor of the city in Florida, Susan Haynie, laughed at the mistake.

“While I’m pleased that the congressman from Arizona would have the name of Boca Raton on his lips, I am disappointed that he would confuse our vibrant, beautiful city with a movement promoting Islamist insurgency in Nigeria,” she said.

It was a simple slip of the tongue. Just don’t make the same one when planning your spring break this year.

A staff member at Horry Georgetown Technical College in South Carolina decided to promote her medical technology program by giving young kids fake drugs, and parents are not happy.

At a family event over the weekend, she handed out pill bottles full of M&Ms, labeled “Happy Pills,” with directions that read: “Take 1 M&M every 2 to 4 hours. May refill 5 times by 2/13/2016.”

Talk about a sugar high…

A friend of one of the parents posted the above image to Facebook, asking if other’s thought this was ok.

“I know for a fact if I was at that event I would have made my opinion very clear to anyone within earshot!” Karen Goad Williams wrote.

The school apologized Monday on Facebook.

“While we know this professor meant the candy to serve as a treat, the method of distribution may have confused pre-school children whose parents have taught them not to take pills from pharmaceutical bottles,” they wrote. “We regret further that professors and administrators are human and, although eager to share information about growing careers, sometimes make mistakes.”

The school also emphasized that it has a series of lectures about drug and alcohol dependency, with Meredith Baxter from “Family Ties” scheduled speaking at the school on February 26.

Commenters on the post don’t seem to think that’s enough.

“This is appalling, and as a parent of three children I consider this teacher’s behavior negligent,” writes one commenter on Facebook. “She teaches a class having to do with medication, then she should be educated enough not to hand out medication bottle with candy in it.”

Remember that time Brian Williams was shot down in a helicopter in Iraq?

Well now neither does Williams, and he is apologizing publicly for the erroneous story which he has been telling for years after being called out by some of the troops who actually were in the attack.

Sorry dude, I don't remember you being on my aircraft, said Lance Reynolds on Facebook. I do remember you walking up about an hour after we had landed to ask me what had happened.

He brought up the story in a news segment Friday about a tribute to a retired soldier at a New York Rangers game.

But crew members told the military news site Stars & Stripes that this never happened, and Williams issued a retraction.

I made a mistake in recalling the events of 12 years ago, Williams said on NBC Nightly News Wednesday. I want to apologize.

The soldiers of the 159th Aviation Regiments Chinook which was actually shot down claim Williams was in a helicopter that arrived an hour later.

I don't know what screwed up in my mind that caused me to conflate one aircraft with another. Williams said.

He later elaborated and apologized further in a Facebook comment:

You are absolutely right and I was wrong. In fact, I spent much of the weekend thinking I'd gone crazy. I feel terrible about making this mistake, especially since I found my OWN WRITING about the incident from back in '08, and I was indeed on the Chinook behind the bird that took the RPG in the tail housing just above the ramp.

Now people on Twitter have started a hashtag to shame him called #BrianWilliamsMisremembers, in which he claims he was part of some other major historical events.

Members of the neo-Nazi National Democratic party (NPD) in Germany were supposed to participate in a rally in Freiburg last Saturday.

Unfortunately (for them) the rally never happened, as they got on the wrong train and ended up in the city of Mannheim.

Their original train was overcrowded with soccer fans, so police forced them to take the next one. They failed to check the destination, however, before boarding.

“We didn’t miss them,” said the mayor of Freiburg.

These neo-Nazis aren’t exactly the brightest bulbs in the box.

Last year, the village of Wunsiedel turned an annual neo-Nazi march into a fundraiser supporting an anti-Nazi group called EXIT-Germany, and the neo-Nazis had no clue.

Sriracha pizza pretty much sells itself, right? But an ad agency in Israel thought Domino’s needed some promotional material with a bit more kick.

Hence this severed tongue, dressed in leather with a ball gag in its mouth, ready for a good whipping.

“You’re going to suffer and enjoy every moment,” the text warns.

The image, from advertising agency McCann Israel, was reportedly “leaked” online even though the ad was never intended to be published and never was.

Tim McIntyre, a rep for Dominos, told People Magazine that it was pitched but never approved.

“It never ‘officially’ appeared anywhere, because it was ill-advised, unfunny and not brand-appropriate,” McIntyre said. “In a word, it was stupid.”

I bet it doesn’t seem so stupid to them now that it’s getting all this online attention.

On Twitter, Domino’s is telling people that the ad was “unauthorized.”

Meanwhile in New Zealand… it’s “silly season,” the summer months when people are doing a lot of drinking and celebrating.

Apparently they are also doing some pretty stupid stuff.

The NZ Herald recently spoke with a patient flow co-ordinator at Middlemore Hospital in Auckland, and learned about all the dumb accidents they have been seeing lately.

For instance, a man was mowing his lawn when the blades got stuck on sticks and grass. He tried to remove the debris with his hand, and the blade shattered his bones. (He didn’t lose his fingers.)

Among other incidents they have seen are people sticking their tongues in blenders, smashing windows to break into their own homes, chopping their fingers when trying to cut frozen hamburger patties, and a number of chainsaw-related accidents.

“Summer is a time where we get a lot of sporting injuries, but we’ve also got lots of injuries that happen because people don’t engage their minds,” the hospital said.

Miss Israel, Doron Matalon, took an innocent selfie with some of her fellow competitors on January 11 and posted it to Instagram. Little did she know this would start a firestorm of epic proportions throughout the Middle East.

Because that is the type of world we live in now.

The issue here is that- along with Miss Slovenia, and Miss Japan – Miss Lebanon, Saly Greige, is also in the photo. And her country is not very happy about it, since they consider Israel to be an enemy state (they are technically still at war).

According to Lebanon's The Daily Star, some citizens want her to be stripped of her crown for such an atrocity.

"You could have avoided mingling with the Israeli contestant like previous Lebanese contestants have done throughout the years. And if you were harassed like you say, you could have at least avoided the huge smile [we see] on your face," wrote one critic on Twitter.

Matalon thinks the the whole thing is absurd.

"It doesn't surprise me, but it still makes me sad," she wrote on Instagram. "Too bad you cannot put the hostility out of the game, only for three weeks of an experience of a lifetime that we can meet girls from around the world and also from the neighboring country."

Miss Lebanon is taking a different approach to the outcry by both apologizing and denying any responsibility for the photo. In a re-post of the photo on Instagram (with Miss Israel cropped out) Greige says Matalon jumped in to take the shot last minute.

"Since the first day of my arrival to participate to [Miss Universe], I was very cautious to avoid being in any photo or communication with [Miss Israel], who tried several times to take a photo with me," she wrote.

The Miss Universe pageant issued the following statement in response to the controversy:

"It is unfortunate to know a photo of four smiling women from different parts of the world, working together at an event, could be misconstrued as anything other than what it is, a celebration of universal friendship, which the Miss Universe pageant is all about."

Thanks to this incident, the competition which airs on January 25, will likely have a much bigger audience.

A pizza guy was forced to give back his $7 tip to a Massachusetts car dealership, and the Internet is furious.

Jarrid Tansey of Palace Pizza was paid $50 for a bill of just over $42. He left, assuming the rest was his tip as no one had spoken up otherwise.

But then he got another call asking him to return the extra cash, at which point the people at the dealership took all the money and started to harass him about it.

“Out the door before I put my foot in your ass,” said one woman.

They also tried to get the delivery guy fired by contacting his manager, who ultimately determined the dealership was the real problem, which they have had conflicts with in the past.

Eventually the owner of the dealership and his son went to the pizza place to say they were sorry.

But the apology was a day late and about 7 dollars too short, as the video had been leaked online and the Internet decided to get revenge on F&R Auto Sales in the most effective way possible: with some very interesting Yelp reviews.

By now you’ve probably seen the new Charlie Hebdo cover featuring the prophet Muhammad holding a sign that says “Je Suis Charlie.” It’s plastered all over the Internet at this point.

The print issues sold out in Paris, and 300 copies are on their way to the United States this week.

But a number of big media outlets still refuse to show it (ahem… The New York Times).

In this video from a Sky News segment Wednesday, former Charlie Hebdo contributor Caroline Fourest expresses her outrage at such news organizations and begins to hold up a copy of the magazine.

“I am very sad that journalists in the UK do not support us, that journalists in the UK betray what journalism is about by thinking that people are not grown-up enough to decide whether a drawing is offensive or not,” she said.

But she isn’t able to finish her thought, as the cameras immediately cut back to the anchor, Dharshini David.

“I do apologize for any of our viewers who may have been offended,” she says.

Have you seen Angela Merkel?

The Announcer (HaMevaser), a small orthodox newspaper in Israel, has removed all female world leaders from a photo at the rally against terrorism last weekend in Paris.

Missing from the image is Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel, Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo, Denmark Prime Minister Helle Thorington-Schmidt and European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini.

"Including a picture of a woman into something so sacred, as far as we are concerned, it can desecrate the memory of the martyrs and not the other way around," said editor Binyamin Lipkin.

In the ultra-orthodox community showing women in photos is typically a big no-no, due to modesty concerns, and Lipkin said he was worried about what children might think.

Altering a news photo at a march focused around issues of censorship and free speech is bad enough as is, but the paper's photoshop skills aren't that great either.

A man in China was arrested this past weekend for trying to smuggle in 94 iPhones from Hong Kong where they are cheaper to purchase.

Customs officials were suspicious of the way he was walking, so they had him go through the metal detectors.

That's when they discovered $49,000 worth of Apple products (both iPhone 6 and iPhone 5S models) taped to his midsection in this makeshift suit of armor.

Crotch Siri is now scarred for life.

Social media accounts belonging the United States Central Command were hacked on Monday by a group claiming to be ISIS sympathizers.

The attack comes at the same time that President Obama is promoting his plans to bolster cybersecurity.

The hackers posted a number of eerie warnings on the Twitter account @CENTCOM, which has since been suspended. They changed the profile images to those in the photo above with the words "CyberCaliphate" and "I love you ISIS."

"AMERICAN SOLDIERS, WE ARE COMING, WATCH YOUR BACK. ISIS," they wrote. They also posted spreadsheets with contact info for retired U.S. army generals and maps of North Korea and China. Nothing posted was classified, however, and it is all available publicly online.

Their YouTube account was compromised as well with two new videos added called "Flames of War ISIS Video" and "O Soldiers of Truth Go Forth," according to Reuters.

"We can confirm that the U.S. Central Command's Twitter and YouTube accounts were compromised earlier today. We are taking appropriate measures to address the matter," Centcom said in a statement.

Another tweet linked to the following message on Pastbin:

"While the US and its satellites kill our brothers in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan we broke into your networks and personal devices and know everything about you," they wrote. "You'll see no mercy infidels. ISIS is already here, we are in your PCs, in each military base. With Allah's permission we are in CENTCOM now. We won't stop! We know everything about you, your wives and children. U.S. soldiers! We're watching you!"

Once a Nazi cow, always a Nazi cow.

A british farmer named Derek Gow (not a Nazi) recently killed and ate some of his Nazi-bred cattle after discovering they were too violent towards him and his staff to keep around the farm.

He originally imported 13 of the rare "Heck" cattle, which were genetically modified beasts created for the Nazi regime by German zoologists Heinz and Lutz Heck back in the 1930s.

Adolf Hitler wanted to bring the legendary Auroch back to life, an aggressive beast with large horns that went extinct back in the 1600s.

The Nazi scientists combined Spanish fighting bulls with Highland cattle and several other breeds to produce the monsters, which were then used as propaganda.

Most of them were destroyed after the war, but some survived. Gow received his herd from Belgium in 2009, marking the first time the creatures have appeared in England in 4000 years.

The meat from the Nazi cows that were slaughtered will be sold to stores in Europe, says Gow. He tried sausages made from the animals and described it as "very tasty."

This couldn't have happened at a worse time.

YouTube prankster Alexander BOK decided to film a little video in NYC on Christmas Eve in New York as part of Ellen's #DanceDares challenge.

The idea is to record yourself dancing behind strangers without them knowing and possibly have your clip appear on the show.

So he tried this out in Grand Central Station where, for the most part, people were amused and there weren't any no major incidents.

But when he decided to start dancing behind some cops outside, things got a bit more serious.

"What's wrong with you bro?" one of the cops asks in the video, as four officers approach the prankster.

Alexander BOK explains the purpose video to them, and they proceed to call him an "fucking a**hole" and eventually pushing him away, knocking him to down on the ground.

The NYPD is investigating the incident, according to TMZ.

A wall of a Morton Salt storage facility in Chicago collapsed Tuesday, spilling mountains of salt onto cars in the nearby Acura dealership.

The roof bear of the building near where the accident occurred bears the Salt company's motto: "When it Rains it Pours."

The only thing that could have made this more perfect would have been if there was a pretzel factory next door instead of a car lot.
